Beyond Compare – Teacher Marky Jess

Teacher Marky Jess is a millennial with a degree in education from the University of the Philippine’s Open University. He is currently the PHBEE Club Captain of PHBEE Rizal Amber. He used to be a part-time videographer and content writer, but he finally realized a love for teaching when he joined 51Talk two years ago. He may be confined to a wheelchair, but his perseverance to help others through teaching has made him more resilient. His story inspires his fellow teachers to strive more.

He has since taught almost 3000 lessons, delivering quality teaching to his students with so much joy. He loves his profession as a 51Talk teacher because of his students’ dedication to learn. “There are times that they are sick but they are still actively participating ...” remarked Teacher Marky Jess.

Teacher Marky Jess is so awed by the level of commitment his students have. He wants to reciprocate it by giving them the best learning sessions he can possibly give. “Even if I have my own personal problems, when I am teaching, I forget about them because I believe my students deserve a fun lesson every time.”

As a work-from-home teacher, Marky Jess is looked up to by his friends and family. He in turn, is inspired by the fact that he gets to touch the lives of his students. “I see my students grow and improve their comprehension skills. When they grow up, they will recall that at one point in their life, a 51talk teacher taught them and laughed with them. The opportunity to leave an impact, a legacy even in a small way, is a great reward.”
