Teacher Kennie Liz lives in Bustos, Bulacan. She worked in Quezon City as a sales representative for two years and spent seven months employed in the BPO industry. She barely had time for her husband and children as she spent two to three hours getting to work and it took the same amount of time going back home.
Kennie Liz was referred to 51Talk by a friend. After learning of the opportunity to earn a living without having to leave home, she immediately took it. She admits that the transition was not easy but she was determined to overcome the challenges. “When I started, it was a bit difficult because I needed to make adjustments especially in communicating. With my previous work, I talked to adults, but here in 51Talk, I had to adjust to talking to kids.”
She is now a Senior Teacher B after becoming a 51Talk home-based online English teacher in October of 2018. She is part of PhBEE Club Bulacan Amber. She is inspired to keep on teaching because of her students who constantly provide her with good feedback. “I love it when they tell me that I am a very good teacher and are excited to have another lesson with me.”
Kennie Liz had enough of working in the city. She was exhausted by the amount of time she spent on the road and being away from her children. Being a 51Talk teacher has made her become a better mother and wife, she says. “I am able to attend to my children's needs; I can also manage my time. I am able to fully fulfill my role as a housewife and a mother who is also a teacher to kids.” She no longer has any intention of going back to work in the city and has decided to stay in her hometown. “It never crossed my mind to look for another livelihood opportunity. I love 51Talk! I am happy to be a 51Talk teacher.”
