Finding a Loyal Partner: Teacher Cedric

Teacher Cedric is one of the online English teachers who have been with 51Talk since its early years. After 7 years on the platform, he continues to show his excellence and dedication to education as he became a winning finalist during the SINA 2020 Five-Star Gold Teacher Selection last September. Along with other finalists from 51Talk’s teaching team, he competed with hundreds of teachers from different educational institutions and teaching teams and successfully won the top teacher title.

Before he got to where he is now, it took dedication to himself, his craft, and the platform. Before joining 51Talk, teacher Cedric taught in a Korean EFL company back in 2010. Three years later, he found out about 51Talk on JobStreet when he was looking for opportunities in Pasig. He first joined as an office-based EFL teacher and started as a home-based teacher after 6 months. He decided to stay in 51Talk because it helped him become the best version of himself as a teacher and a person.

He came from a broken family and had only lived with his father, who recently passed away. Despite this, he has been living an independent and successful life with his three pets in Pampanga since 2010. A typical day includes coaching his members as a captain, training teachers as a trainer, and teaching students as a 51Talk teacher.

Although he has a busy schedule, he still takes care of his health by riding his bike every morning as part of his daily exercise routine. He also loves traveling and has already visited Taiwan, Hong Kong, Siargao, Siquijor, Boracay, La Union, and more local islands in the Philippines.

Looking back on his experience during the SINA 2020 Five-Star Gold Teacher competition, he recalls feeling nervous since it was his first time joining a prestigious international event. He also had mixed emotions and he couldn’t believe that he was really chosen as one of the representatives for 51Talk. Nonetheless, he feels grateful and blessed for being chosen among thousands of competent teachers on the platform. He also says, “I didn’t really expect it, but one of my birthday wishes was to win."

Thanks to 51Talk, teacher Cedric has experienced and achieved professional and personal growth.
