When Hard Work Pays Off: Teacher Lyko Arbie

How do you know when all your effort, hard work, and sacrifice have paid off? It’s when you finally see and enjoy the fruits of your labor. For teacher Lyko Arbie, he is grateful for the countless blessings he has received, one of which is an award from the SINA 2020 Five-Star Gold Teacher Selection last September. Educators from hundreds of educational institutions and teaching teams enter the annual competition to bag the title of “Five-Star Gold Teacher.” This year, he was one of the winning finalists from 51Talk’s teaching team.

However, it takes hard work to achieve teacher Lyko Arbie’s accomplishments. Before this  milestone and before joining 51Talk, he worked as an assistant nurse in Australia. After hearing about 51Talk from a friend teaching on the platform, he became interested and decided to apply because of the flexible work schedule. So after successfully joining 51Talk, he went from being an assistant nurse to an online English teacher. Now, he has been teaching on the platform for two years.

But teacher Lyko Arbie didn’t stop there. Since teaching at 51Talk, he has been very proactive in working with the brand to create helpful content for 51Talk teachers on different social media platforms. Besides all this, he joined 51Talks’ Third-party Center Accreditation Program (TPCAP), and he will soon become a TPCAP partner. When his teaching center is finished, he can also provide opportunities for other educators and aspiring online English teachers.

Outside of the platform, his family also owns a business that has been running for more than 40 years. He is also an avid fan of games and music. Indeed, teacher Lyko Arbie is such a hard-working and dedicated person of many talents!

However, all of his success as an educator would also not be possible without the different growth opportunities that 51Talk gives. He says that the platform has made a lot of impact on his life. Since teaching on the platform, he has learned to manage and value his time better, become more comfortable with dealing with kids, and achieved personal and professional growth as a teacher and entrepreneur.

Looking back on his achievement as a SINA 2020 Gold Teacher awardee, he feels proud for winning the competition. For him, all his hard work and sacrifice have paid off. Now, he looks forward to what the future will bring, and he uses this as his motivation to continue teaching with 51Talk.

As a top teacher, he encourages aspiring 51Talk teachers to adopt a ‘never give up’ attitude. He says, “Continue what you have started. If you feel discouraged with your profession, think of the reason why you chose to do this.”
